Chocolate Making Experience

A truly immersive and indulgent experience where we will take you behind the scenes into the art of chocolate making.

About this experience

Join us at our Chocolate Factory in South Shields for a truly immersive and indulgent experience where we will take you behind the scenes into the art of chocolate making. This is a truly magical and decadent experience lasting around 2 hours. With access to some of the finest ingredients, along with our expert guidance this is a truly memorable experience.

Your workshop begins with one of our delicious hot chocolates on arrival made using a traditional Belgian recipe from Bruges. After this we will get hands on chocolate making. During the chocolate workshop you will learn and be taken through the various stages of creating your own decadent chocolate truffles, a chocolate bar and delicious French style chocolate mendiants. You will be able to choose from a variety of inclusions and flavours to enhance your chocolates too. After making the chocolates we will then take the time to beautifully package and ribbon your creations for you to take home and share with your friends and family.

These workshops are open to all levels of experience and are the perfect introduction into the wonderful world of chocolate. You will also learn how to taste chocolate, the tempering process of chocolate and we will also provide you with the recipes and workshop notes from the day. Refreshments are included.

Important Information - Please Ensure You Read This Prior To Booking

This is a very practical hands on workshop. You will work individually to create your chocolates under our teaching, supervision and guidance. Our workshops are a held in a shared group setting with no more than 6 other participants.

If any participant has any allergies or dietary requirements you MUST advise us in advance of making a booking. We operate an open working kitchen where we handle many allergens. If in doubt, please check with us in advance.

Participants must be 14 years of age or older. If a participant is under the age of 18, they must be accompanied by a paying, participating adult in the workshop. Unfortunately we do not have space for spectators. We also don’t allow babies, toddlers or pushchairs in the kitchen.

Personal belongings should be kept to a minimum. A hot chocolate on arrival and water are included, but you may wish to bring a drink in a bottle with a lid as chocolate making can be thirsty work!

As we open up our production space for shared workshops we have an extremely high standard of hygiene, health and safety at The Canny Chocolate Company. Every workshop participant must wear an apron and hairnet (these are provided).

You will need to stand for up to two hours. However, if you require seating, a limited number of stools are available.

Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop and allow up to 2 hours for your chocolate experience.

Participants must adhere to all the instructions set out for a safe and enjoyable experience.

If you want to gift a chocolate experience but are unsure of what date to choose, why not buy one of our gift vouchers which can be redeemed at a later date.

Once you have booked your workshop it is not possible to reschedule or cancel it. Please consider this when booking. Especially during busy times of year, we will struggle to re-schedule your chocolate making. We can't make refunds once your class is booked. Shared workshops require a minimum number of chocolate makers. In the unlikely event that this is not met we will contact you to re-arrange and we will always find an alternative.
