About this experience

Join us at our Chocolate Factory in South Shields for a truly immersive festive experience where we will take you behind the scenes into the art of chocolate making. This is a truly magical experience lasting around 1hr 30 mins.

During the chocolate workshop you will learn and be taken through the various stages of creating your own moulded chocolate bar, hot chocolate spoons and christmas tree decorations. You will be able to choose from a variety of festive inclusions and christmas flavours to enhance your chocolates too. After making the chocolates we will then take the time to beautifully package and ribbon your creations for you to take home.

These workshops are the perfect introduction into the wonderful world of chocolate for all levels of experience and are the perfect way to spend some quality family time over the festive season. The workshop last around 1hr 30 mins.

Important Information - Please Ensure You Read This Prior To Booking

As these are family workshops, we do not allow children to attend on their own. Each booking must include a paying grown up (adult ticket) over 18 years of age participating in the workshop accompanying the child/children. Adults attending without a child will not be admitted and should book onto one of our other workshops exclusively for adults.

Our family workshops don’t have any minimum age. However, as our workshops are held in our working chocolate kitchen, younger children MUST be tall enough to be able to comfortably work at the height of a standard kitchen work bench. We don’t allow any stools or steps etc. If in doubt, please contact us prior to making a booking.

Unfortunately we do not have space for spectators. We don’t allow babies, toddlers or pushchairs in the kitchen.

If you require disabled access you must contact us in advance to discuss your requirements so we can ensure we can accommodate due to the space restrictions in our kitchen.

Personal belongings should be kept to a minimum. Water is included, but you may wish to bring a drink in a bottle with a lid as chocolate making can be thirsty work!

If any participant has any allergies or dietary requirements you MUST advise us in advance of making a booking. We operate an open working kitchen where we handle many allergens. If in doubt, please check with us in advance.

If any participant has any SEN/SEND requirements, please contact us in advance of making a booking. We are experts at delivering workshops and want to ensure that everyone has an incredible time. You are also welcome to come down and visit us in advance of your workshop for a pre-visit and walk through of what will happen on the day.

This is a very practical hands on workshop. You will work individually to create your chocolates under our teaching, supervision and guidance. Our workshops are held in a shared group setting with no more than 8 other participants.

As we open up our production space for shared workshops we have an extremely high standard of hygiene, health and safety at The Canny Chocolate Company. Every workshop participant must wear an apron and hairnet (these are provided).

Participants will need to stand for up to 1hr 30 mins for the duration of the workshop.

Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop and allow up to 1 hr 30 minutes for your chocolate experience.

Participants must adhere to all the instructions set out for a safe and enjoyable experience.

If you want to gift a chocolate experience but are unsure of what date to choose, why not buy one of our gift vouchers which can be redeemed at a later date.

Once you have booked your workshop it is not possible to reschedule or cancel it. Please consider this when booking. Especially during busy times of year, we will struggle to re-schedule your chocolate making. We can't make refunds once your class is booked. Shared workshops require a minimum number of chocolate makers. In the unlikely event that this is not met we will contact you to re-arrange and we will always find an alternative.
